Survey: To seek validation of the hypothesis, create a survey to verify users' purchasing habits and their interest in knowing how healthy a food is.
The insights:
- Price, nutrition, and flavor lead the product comparison pack.
- It would be easier for users to see the nutritional information as follows: - Providing more clear and graphic information.
- Show direct impact on your health.
- Highlighting unnatural chemicals or those linked to health problems.
- Short and clear information.
Competitor analysis: I also carried out this analysis and elaborate a swot matrix for greater understanding.
Insights for the new product:
- Scan-to-analyze: Seamless identification of food items through barcode or image recognition.
-Suggest alternatives: Suggest healthy alternatives based on the nutrition facts.
- Tiered subscriptions: Offer basic, advanced, and premium tiers with varying features and data access.
- Targeted marketing: Focus on health-conscious demographics and niche communities.
Competitor analysis
Since the apps have many screens and flows, it was important to start by defining the user flow with the first Minimum viable product (MVP) that would be carried out.
User-Flow
Based on this flow, the happy path was created on a wireframe.
Wireframe
The prototype focused on facilitating the capture of information and highlighting the nutritional information of the products.
Mid-fi prototyping in figma was developed to facilitate usability testing.
Mid-fidelity decisions
With the interactive prototypes, the usability test began using the Figma application for cell phones to simulate the most similar experience.
Identified areas for improvement:
- Difficulty finding information icon.
- Inconsistent unit measurements
- Calorie needs vary among users
- Desire for information on high-quantity consumption consequences
- Preference for complete, categorized information for informed choices
In the final high fidelity design, the following were considered:
- Onboarding guide for new users.
- Microinteractions for action feedback.
- Clear, recognizable icons for each category.
- Relevant data and tips within each nutritional category.
Prototype interactive
- User research is crucial to understanding needs and preferences.
- Start with an MVP and iterate based on user feedback.
- Visual clarity and conciseness are key for information accessibility.
- Consider user diversity in health goals and priorities.
